The new issue of Union Station is up and has a lovely review of my book. There's also a review of my Write Bloody Publishing family member, Megan Falley. Also, there's a lot of beautiful poems in the issue, including work from Marty McConnell, Sam Sax, Anis Mojgani, Cristin O'Keefe Aptowicz, and more! :)
I've decided it's time for Muzzle Magazine to step up our book review game. There need to be more people publishing high quality reviews of poetry books by small presses. We're looking for 1-3 poetry reviewers to write thoughtful, insightful, engaging, and respectful reviews of new poetry books. In the past, we've published a number of performance reviews by J.W. Basilo that I think do all of those things quite well. We're looking for reviewers who (like J.W.) have strong voices and a high level of expertise. Basically, we need people who are good at writing about poetry and know what they're talking about. For more on how to apply to be a book reviewer for Muzzle, click here. Also, here are links to a couple of the reviews by J.W. Basilo that I think are very strong: Review of Rachel McKibbens at Columbia CollegeReview of Gypsee Yo at Rustbelt Regional Slam My poems "What I Can Say I've Lost, What I've Mourned" and "I Go Back to a House Party in 1980" are published in the new issue of Fox Chase Review. Give them a read! These two are both also in my book, Good Grief. On a completely unrelated note, I think this song is really pretty (See below: "Train Song" by Vashti Bunyan). |
