The text and audio recording of my poem "What I Mean by Ruin is..." is now featured online at Rattle. It was originally published in the Summer 2011 print issue and is the poem the title of my first book, Good Grief, comes from.
Check out the Write Bloody Publishing Fresh Cheese Sampler, which includes selections from the forthcoming Write Bloody 2012 releases (like mine!). It feels great to have my first book coming into the world with such pretty company. I now get to say in my bio that I'm a Pushcart Prize Nominee. :) Orange Quarterly nominated my poems "Three Rachels" and "For My Brother on His Sixteenth Birthday." I know it's a huge long shot to get into Pushcart, but it's nice to know that at least one editorial board thinks my writing is worth it. I edit an online magazine of poetry, Muzzle Magazine. The deadline for submissions to our winter issue is DECEMBER 15th (2 weeks from today). PLEASE SEND US POEMS AND ART http://www.muzzlemagazine.com/submissions.html For a little background, I founded Muzzle in May 2010 as a project as a writer-in-residence with a literary arts organization in Chicago called Vox Ferus, which required me to work on a project that would benefit my community of writers. Muzzle was originally founded with the intention of creating a space where the written texts of poets best known for their spoken word poetry and poets from more of a traditional academic background could be put in conversation with one another. Also, if you haven't checked it out, it's pretty sweet (or at least I think it is). |
